30 in 30, days 1-4

30 Paintings in 30 days, thanks to http://lesliesaeta.blogspot.ca/2012/12/thirty-paintings-in-thirty-days.html

Well, I thought it a worthy challenge. Hope I'm up to it, even while uploading my first few; colour pencil sketches from my travel series of photographs. I started in colour pencil decades ago, these are Derwent Inktense. The first are dry, second are with a wash.

Sketchcrawl 35

Had a great time!! Great company & the rain did not dampen the day... Wandered through the Musée d'Histoire de Montréal, an interesting permanent collection and exhibit of Lost Neighbourhoods, we also took in the view from the 3rd floor and walkway...

We took the metro over to the EV Building @ Concordia, see the view from the Studio Arts side... A view I found very distracting through my first semester.

I love Montreal, it's such a vibrant and welcoming place. I've spent more time downtown this past fall & winter than all my trips in combined in the past, when it was just a treat to go in and do something interesting. Would love to go on an architectural tour of some sort... so many interesting buildings. Also overdue to revisit the CCA. Saw a wonderful exhibit there once on FL Wright's designs that never materialized. (the spiral drive still in my head)... http://www.cca.qc.ca/en/bookstore What an imagination.

Well, we're almost into May 2012 already... where does the time go?

Sketchcrawl 33

Oct. 15 '11 - first time participating in the international Sketchcrawl.
sketchcrawl.com   Went downtown to Montreal's Museum of Fine Art's inauguration of the new Bourgie Pavillion & Concert Hall that was previously the Erskine & American Church on Sherbrooke St.

We had planned to do lots of sketching, but there was so much to see...
Next time.

Worldwide Photowalk 2011

I was a participant in last year's Photowalk ... Old Montreal. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. This year I was signed up Oct 1 with the same group, for Mount Royal, a lovely place to wander. But... last minute decision to have one last trip to the lake in the Laurentians. Not at our Camp this time, tents folded away. Stayed at C&D's, a place of childhood summers which seemed eternal.

So... my Oct 1 photo pic(k)s...
Absolutely LOVE the Hipstamatic app... was given the phone to be able to use the camera. This was on the drive up...

No electricity at the cottage, no road, used to be no phone either, now cells everywhere. I think of mine as a camera first, phone last

Further thoughts on April 25's IFJM

May 24

Yesterday: Nestful (literally) of four little speckled Robins...

Today, they've all fledged.
Amazing, how quickly it all happened in a month.
We were lucky to share quick glimpses...

... not unlike the IFJM month of April.
Gives you the same sort of feeling as you see others' work - there, briefly in the big picture of things... and then, change of focus elsewhere. The time goes so quickly.

Thanks, Roz, for giving us this chance. Until next year!
